On April 1st, Jose Delerme, Jr., a 19 year old college freshman with 16 years of gymnastics experience, suffered a severe spinal cord injury after an accident on the pommel horse.  This injury left him paralyzed from his upper chest down.  Jose, a 2015 Junior Olympics National Champion in the 18 year old level in the still rings, faces a long road to recovery.  He underwent complex spinal surgery to fuse several vertebrae and spent 14 days  at the Hershey Medical Center Neuro ICU and on April 14th, he was transferred to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, PA where his journey to recovery will begin.
